Baptism

Welcome to the Family.

Ryan Eberly.JPG

“Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water and in the word." (CCC: 1213)

How do I schedule a baptism?

Preparation for Baptism will be made available to parents as they request it, preferably after the first trimester and before the birth of their child.  Contact Marla Overholt in the parish office to schedule a baptism.  A home visitation will take place for all families with siblings at which the basic symbols of Baptism will be explained to the entire household. The parent(s) will then be introduced to the many ways their family can be engaged with the community at Saint John XXIII.

New Parent Retreat

We ask that all first time parents, or parents who are having their first child baptized at Saint John XXIII, call the parish office to sign up for a “New Parent” Retreat. These retreats are held quarterly and will network families with similar age children to facilitate strong bonds within the parish community.

Upcoming New Parent Retreat Dates:

  • October 26, 2014
  • January 25, 2015
  • April 19, 2015
