In the last academic year, 2015-2016, The Great Adventure Bible Study Program began with The Bible Timeline, an in-depth study of the Old Testament for 24 weeks. There was great enthusiasm to learn about the major people, places and events and how they all come together to reveal the amazing story of our faith. Participants read 14 books of the Old Testament which developed in the participants a deep appreciation of scripture and God’s presence in the lives of His people.
This academic year, 2016-2017, the Gospel of Matthew: The King and His Kingdom will be the focus of our in-depth study. In Matthew’s Gospel you will see Jesus as the awaited Messiah who fulfills the promises and prophecies of the Old Testament. Matthew shows us who Jesus is and what his life and teachings mean for us today. There are 24 sessions beginningTuesday, August 30 at 6:30-8:15 p.m. in Roncalli Hall. To register, go to www.evangelization.com to set-up an account and purchase your workbook ($28.95). For more details, contact Sr. Anne Mary at firstname.lastname@example.org or 419-874-6502.
In 2017-2018, the in-depth bible study will be the book of Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom will be the bible study. The Acts of the Apostles shows how Christ's Kingdom on earth is empowered to carry out his work in the world. The book of Acts shows the Church, enlivened by the Holy Spirit, teaching, preaching, healing, and restoring outcasts in the same way that Jesus did on earth. The Acts of the Apostles provides an historic framework for understanding the rest of the New Testament. Paul’s letters in particular come alive in a new way when they are read within the context of the Acts narrative. There are 20 sessions for this study.
Each bible study can be taken independently of the others.
