Win: For students to know that that they have been set free and that the tool of Reconciliation is always available. 

 

Pre-Gather 6:00 - 6:15pm in Student Center and Hallway

Key Steps:

  1. Setup NameTags
  2. Get bibles boxes to small group spaces
  3. Pray with team(we always miss this!)
  4. Split up snacks and drinks in small group spaces
  5. Music in Student Center
  6. Setup and start Puzzles and Jenga games

 

Gather 6:15-40(Student Center)

Key Steps

  1. 2 people at doors to greet
  2. Puzzles & Jenga in 102
  3. Get to know you large group
    1. What is something stupid you have done?
    2. Have you ever broken something that cannot be fixed? Simply has to be replaced.

Proclaim 6:40-7:00(Student Center)

Key Steps

  1. What is a Sacrament: Outward sign of inward grace
    1. What are they?
  2. What is Sacrament of Reconciliation vs Penance?
    1. R: Restoring friendly relations(apology)
    2. P: Outward sign of your sorry(making up for it)
  3. What is sin?
    1. I know what is right, I know what God wants...I don't care
      1. choosing yourself over another/God
      2. Result: Negative outcomes: hurts others, hurts yourself, hurts relationship with God.
        1. These negative outcomes brings feelings of shame, guilt, fear, and separates us from friendly relations
        2. So Jesus gave us a tool
  4. Sacrament of Reconciliation is a chance for us to be free from shame and to build a bridge back to God

Process: 

  1. Examen: reflect on your day/week/month and remember ANYWHERE where you put yourself before others
  2. Confess: Share with Jesus(the priest stands in place of him)
  3. Contrition: Apologize, Ask for forgiveness, verbally say you are going to try better
  4. Absolution: Priest as Jesus will wipe the slate clean
  5. Penance: Outward sign of your repentance

 

Break 7:00-7:50pm(Stations: 25 min each)

Key Steps: 

  1. Station 1: Confession
    1. Examen in Rm 102(music) with journals
    2. Confession in 103, Atrium, 105
    3. Pray in Roncalli
    4. Light lantern outside
  2. Station 2: Reflection
    1. Snack
    2. Scripture: Make sure everyone has the chance to open up the bible, read the passage, and have them journal these questions before sharing
      1. Prodigal Son: Luke 15:11-32
        1. What is this story about?
        2. Who did the son impact with his actions? Who else did he impact that might not have been mentioned. 
        3. Give an example of a time when you have been forgiven by someone.
        4. Give an example of when you have forgiven someone else.
        5. What would it be like if God did not forgive and we had to work ALL of our sins off.
