The Saint John XXIII mixed choir consists of members high school age and older. The choir rehearses Thursday evenings and sings at the 9:45 a.m. Mass on a weekly basis.
The choir works on many selections through out the year for various holidays and celebrations. Repertoire includes different styles of music and different levels of difficulty. No previous singing experience is necessary to join the choir.
Emmaus, the first band at Saint John XXIII, chose its name from a passage in Luke’s Gospel (24: 13-35). The band formed in 2006 in an effort to bring quality, contemporary, music to the Saint John XXIII Community. Now, that style of music has exploded into the repertoire for all masses at our parish. Emmaus is truly a diverse group of musicians spanning generations and many different professions. Despite these differences, group members work for one common goal: to bring people closer to Jesus Christ through the power of music.
In addition to leading worship at parish Masses, Emmaus has led music for various Diocesan retreats, and community events. If you have an event that you would like Emmaus play at, please contact Michael Puppos.
