Small Faith Groups

Make the Community More Personal.

Small faith groups are an important component of parish life at Saint John XXIII. For this reason, all parishioners are encouraged to participate in a small faith group. Each group has eight to twelve members, gathering at someone’s house. Groups meets twice during the year: (six weeks in the fall and during the Lenten season). Most of the time the group follows materials prepared around the topic of the following Sunday’s Scripture readings.

Groups meet at various times through the week, usually Sunday through Thursday.  Most meet on weekday evenings and a couple of groups meet on weekday mornings. People choose the time that fits their schedules.

Many blessings come from these groups. People get to know each other better as they also start to learn to speak about their faith life and matters that are important to them. As they study the readings, most also find they come to Sunday Mass better prepared to listen to the week’s passages.

Most importantly, small faith groups often become small faith communities to which they find a sense of belonging. This experience complements the full-parish Sunday Mass experience
