New Parent Retreat & Baptism
Our journey of initiation begins with parental preparation for Baptism. At Saint John XXIII this includes the New Parent Retreat. We hope to expand upon this in the future, providing parents with opportunities to meet in small groups to discuss what it means to have their child anointed Priest, Prophet and King. We also follow up with parents in the years following baptism with letters and other resources.
Preschool children are invited to attend Faith Alive! with their families. Lessons during the breakout sessions will be center based. The children will learn about the concept of the month through play, stories and crafts.
We also offer a Sunday morning preschool for ages three and four that runs during the school year.
Our “drop off “nursery is available in Room 106 to parents for their preschool children at the 9:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. liturgies on Sunday.
Kindergarten / Grade One
Faith Alive! Begins
Parents should begin their children's formal faith formation in Kindergarten/Grade One. Faith Alive! has a special learning session for those who are age 4 or 5 and entering Kindergarten.
During Mass, children are encouraged to attend Children's Liturgy of the Word.
Grade 1 students will participate with their parent in a parent/child designed process that will allow faith sharing and learning at both levels.
First Eucharist Preparation & Faith Alive!
Our second graders continue their faith formation by participation in Faith Alive! We begin additional preparation for First Eucharist by participating in "coaching" sessions, parent meetings with Father Herb, our Jesus Night Retreat, and the First Communion interview where the children receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time.
Communal Reconciliation, Faith Alive! & 3:45 Club
Faith Alive! and Communal Reconciliation begin in the fall for our families who participated in First Eucharist during the previous year. Third graders have their own break out session at Faith Alive!, allowing their parents to attend the adult learning session.
The Communal Reconciliation preparation process is designed to include "coaching " sessions, three parent meetings with Fr. Herb and a Communal Reconciliation Service for the whole family.
Our first youth ministry events begin in third grade. Students are invited to participate regularly in 3:45 Club.
Fourth & Fifth Grade
Bible Basics at Faith Alive! & 3:45 Club
Grades 4 and & 5 will focus their learning at Faith Alive! with a lens on the Bible. The topic of the month will be explored using the fundamentals of reading and reflecting on the Bible. Faith Alive! participation is critical in these years because Bible study is foundational for the youth group experiences ahead.
Youth ministry events continue for this age with the 3:45 Club.
Sixth & Seventh Grade
Junior High Ministry
In our Junior High Ministry, we seek to increase that strong Christ-centered relationship in our students through the introduction of small community groups and deeper worship experiences. Our hope is to partner with parents in helping students go deeper with each other, their leaders and, most importantly, God.
If you are a parent or adult that is interested in volunteering this year, please see our 23Core page
If a sixth or seventh grade student would like to attend Faith Alive! with their household, they are welcome to help in the Kindergarten or Nursery during the breakout session.
During the eighth grade year, students will prepare for and receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. This is done in a fun and interactive setting as a part of our 23Student Ministries. Sessions will include students with their parents and sponsors at times.
High School Ministry
In our High School Ministry, we seek to keep building maturity in our students and help them grow in deeper relationships with each other, their leaders and, most importantly, the Lord.
HSM meets weekly on Sunday nights during the school year and at other times during the summer months. Annual retreats, mission trips and conferences are also an exciting part of the program. We encourage parents to promote participation at HSM as a means to continue faith development in the teen years.

Our young adult group is focused on providing support, prayer, and community for those in their 20's and early 30's. The main way we accomplish this is with our First Fridays Dinner which is hosted at one of members' houses.
It incorporates sitting and breaking bread together, discussing some topics and prayer that are important to us, and simply having a good time whether its trivia, party games, or sharing stories.
Join our email list and look out for the next invite to our First Friday Dinner.
