Once again this year it looks like I will not win a Nobel Prize. Each year I enjoy this week when day after day a Nobel Prize is awarded. Monday is for the winner in Medicine, Tuesday brings Physics, Wednesday belongs to Chemistry, Thursday usually is the day for Literature although this year that award has been postponed until next year, and Friday is for Peace. I’m not on the list for any.
You may be wondering why I left out the Award for Economics, which will be awarded next Monday. Technically, it is not one of the Nobel Prizes but awarded in the spiritof Nobel. I don’t qualify for that either.
Knowing I’m not going to take home a prestigious prize does not bother me. I admire those who excel and those who work hard to make a difference. Some, like Marie Curie who won in both Physics and Chemistry in various years, literally lost her life for her work.
Most of us are not world renowned and don’t want to be. Yet I am certain that any one person can make a difference in this grand universe by the way he or she chooses to live. Whether or not that person gets acclaim!
“Peter said, ‘I have neither silver nor gold, but what I do have I give you:
in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, [rise and] walk.’”
